Introducing the NEW Kia Stinger

When it comes to sports cars, chances are, stylish and powerful come to mind. Sports cars are often associated with a high price tag, but the Kia Stinger GT is an exception to that rule. Although it will undoubtedly be compared to German sedans, the Korean Stinger can hold its own against the competition. The Stinger provides high performance at a budget-friendly price.

The 2018 Kia Stinger GT is built on a version of the Genesis G70's rear wheel drive platform. Considered a hatchback sports sedan, the Stinger is sized between cars like the BMW 3-series and BMW 5-series, or the Mercedes Benz C-class and E-class. Base model rear-drive Stingers are powered by a 2.0-liter inline-four that makes 255 horses and 260 lb-ft of torque. All GT's are powered by twin-turbocharged 3.3-liter V6 engines with 365 horsepower and 376 lb-ft of torque. When track-tested, the Kia Stinger GT launched from 0 to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds and clocked a quarter mile in 13.3 seconds at 106.9 mph.

On mountain roads, the Stinger GT exhibits a winning balance between vertical compliance and lateral stiffness. The soft suspension rides like a luxury car over bumps, while still maintaining excellent control around corners. The power is well-matched to the vehicle and feels adequate when you take advantage of the paddle shifters on twisty roads. It's a quick and comfortable sedan, especially for back-seat drivers who want ample room to stretch their legs. It has 2-4 inches of wheelbase over a similar German vehicle.

Kia offers all the features of a luxury car without the hefty price tag. The infotainment and navigation systems, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated and cooled leather seats, heated steering wheel, head-up display, and a memory seat for the driver are standard. Safety systems such as automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert are also available. The Stinger even monitors the driver's input and warns when it's time to pull over for a break if it detects drowsiness.

The Kia Stinger is currently available and has a base price of about $40,000. If you're looking to buy a new or used car shortly, reach out to AAA Auto Buying.
