Top 5 Reasons to Sail the Celebrity Edge

Editor’s Escape

Everyone’s talking about the latest and most innovative ship from Celebrity Cruises — Celebrity Edge. If a cruise is on your list of New Year’s travel resolutions for 2019, here are five reasons to make it happen!

1.    Magic Carpet

This distinct orange, glass-enclosed, moving platform is situated off the side of the ship. It moves up and down Celebrity Edge’s side, transforming into a different venue depending on its position (Don’t worry, it doesn’t move when people are on it!).

On Deck 16, it becomes the spot for a unique dining experience called “Dinner on the Edge” (on special evenings). Make reservations once you board the ship. When it’s docked at Deck 14, it serves as an extension of the pool deck. On Deck 5, it’s an open-air extension of Raw 5. It provides smooth embarkation and disembarkation as a tender launch when docked at Deck 2.

2.    Spa

The 22,5000-square-foot spa boasts a SEA Thermal Suite, which is accessible by day for a fee (or for cruisers with a day or cruise-long pass). It’s a complimentary perk for Celebrity Edge guests in AquaClass cabins, though. I highly recommend at least a day pass to experience it — though after one visit you’ll go for an all-cruise pass. There are more than 124 treatments to choose from like the Hot Mineral Body Boost, Zero Gravity Wellness Massage and Thousand Flower Detox Wrap. I opted for the Aroma Spa Seaweed Massage which included a blissful treatment on the heated Amphibia table. It was divine.

3.    Infinite Verandas

It’s all about bringing the view to you on Celebrity Edge. A first for the industry, Infinite Veranda cabins include balconies that are actually part of your main cabin area. A set of bi-fold doors can be closed for a traditional room layout, or you can open them to increase your room size by almost 30 square feet. You can lower your window with the press of a button for a true balcony feel. All staterooms feature state-of-the-art elements like touchscreen panels that control room temperature, window shades and lighting. You can also make use of the keyless entry feature with the ship’s mobile app.

4.    Eden

I can honestly say that dinner at Eden on Celebrity Edge was the most unique culinary experience I’ve had to date. The venue itself is a three-deck, glass-enclosed lounge/restaurant area. It exudes a peaceful, garden-like vibe. During the day, it’s a great place to chill with a cup of coffee or one of their innovative craft cocktails. At night, the space is transformed with unique entertainment by performance artists. Each course of our meal at Eden Restaurant was delivered with an equal amount of drama and surprise.

5.    Rooftop Garden

This outdoor space on Celebrity Edge was a delightfully perfect marriage of nature and contemporary design. I could have easily spent hours there. You can relax on comfy lounge chairs, play a game of giant Jenga, or just soak up the sun and listen to occasional live acoustic music. At the corner of the Garden, the Rooftop Garden Grill is open for lunch (salads, sandwiches and burgers) and dinner (grilled lamb chops, smoked brisket and desserts).
