Every July brings our nation's yearly independence celebration as well as National Ice Cream and National Hot Dog Month. Nothing says July 4th like hot dogs, ice cream, and fireworks. Check out these ingredients for a fabulous Fourth of July blowout.

Start with hot dogs for the perfect Fourth of July. Luckily, there is no shortage of places in the Carolinas to find the perfect hotdog:

Joey Doggs Burgers and Fries in Surfside Beach, South Carolina, cooks up hand-cut french fries, homemade onion rings, made-fresh-daily chili, and slaw. They use 100% beef dogs and never-frozen burgers for some of the best dogs and burgers in South Carolina. Try one of their famous "dog bowl specials."

Order a delicious, authentic steamed Chicago-style hot dog from Skoogies in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. Their menu also includes Polish sausages, chili dogs, Italian beef au jus, and homemade chicken salad, just to name a few.

Sandy's Famous Hot Dogs is a Columbia, South Carolina institution. Founded in 1979, Sandy's strives to serve the only the best hand-crafted hot dogs and ice cream. They make their chili, coleslaw, and pimento cheese fresh in-house with the best local ingredients.

Head to Kitty Hawk, North Carolina for a meal at Capt'n Franks Hot Dogs. Serving up great hot dogs and their secret all beef chili recipe since 1975, you can count on Capt'n Franks to be delicious, welcoming, and affordable.

The menu features mouthwatering traditional Southern staples like hot dogs, brisket, and BBQ. They use the freshest ingredients to bring out the best possible flavor in every bite.

Then, add some ice cream for your fabulous 4th. The Carolinas knows ice cream, and one of these places should be in your neck of the woods:

Head to the Shed at Cooley Farm in Chesnee, South Carolina, the Gaffney roadside farmers market, or the Cafe and Ice Cream Parlor for Strawberry Hill U.S.A.'s homemade ice cream. The folks at Strawberry Hill use their own fruit to sweeten their ice cream and give it a one-of-a-kind taste. They also offer various flavors of Hershey's Ice Cream.

Frozen Moo on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, offers 92 flavors of super-premium ice cream to choose from. Frozen Moo also features low-fat yogurts, sorbets, ices, and no-sugar-added ice creams. Try one of their inventive flavors like Play Dough or Pralines 'n Cream.

With locations in Sylva, Waynesville, and Mooresville, you can always get a fix in western North Carolina from Jack the Dipper Ice Cream. Since 1976, Jack the Dipper has offered old-fashioned hand-dipped ice cream with warm, made-to-order waffle cones in either cinnamon or vanilla. Choose from one of their many enticing flavors like Moosetracks or red velvet.

Spike's Dairy Bar in Southport, North Carolina, serves up delicious locally made ice cream, shakes, floats, hot dogs, and more. Using only premium ingredients, Spike's has a loyal following who visit time and time again for friendly service and delicious soft-serve ice cream.

If you are traveling through the Pisgah Forest, stop by Dolly's Dairy Bar and Gift Shop for rich ice cream in a relaxing atmosphere. Dolly's serves various ice cream flavors, sundaes, shakes, and floats. If you are feeling adventurous, try one of the flavors named after local summer camps.

Lastly, throw in some brilliant fireworks for a July 4th you won't soon forget. Head to one of these destinations for some exceptional fireworks shows:

The City of North Charleston at the Riverfront Park has the Lowcountry's largest Fourth of July Fireworks show. This year's event includes inflatables, games, a play area, giant sandbox, the water fountain, and various food trucks and live performers. Set on the banks of the beautiful Cooper River, Riverfront Park, it is adjacent to historic homes and surrounded by majestic grand oak trees.

The City of Greenville's Red, White and Blue Festival promises a fun-filled evening with live music on two stages, various kids' activities, plus delicious food and beverage vendors. Enjoy one of South Carolina's largest fireworks displays in downtown Greenville as this festival celebrates its 21st year.
Southport's 4th of July Festival has been a tradition of this maritime community for over 200 years. The celebration has grown from ships in the harbor shooting cannons to today's festival of 50,000 people enjoying the festival's events. Highlights include a patriotic parade, live music, traditional games like sack races and watermelon eating contests, and one of the most spectacular fireworks displays on the East Coast.
