NC Holiday Flotilla
If you’re thinking about doing something a little different for Thanksgiving weekend, consider heading to the North Carolina coast! On Saturday, November 24th, Wrightsville Beach will host the 35th Annual North Carolina Holiday Flotilla. It is the Southern version of a holiday parade, but even better; it’s on the water at night! Book your stay with AAA Travel and join in on the festivities.
35th Annual North Carolina Holiday Flotilla
The boat parade will begin at 6 p.m. on Saturday, followed by a fireworks show. You can watch the parade from the Wrightsville Beach parking lot or walk to any number of vantage points along the parade route. These include the Banks Channel Bridge, the two South Island Harbor mini-parks, or the west side of Waynick Boulevard. Vote for your favorite boat to win the Paula Sturdy Award, Best in Show, Best Costumes and Crew Spirit, and more.
If you prefer to be a part of the action, you can enter your boat in the contest. Different boat sizes are welcome and will be judged on creativity and costumes. A $25 entry fee is required to participate. Boaters must complete the parade route and obey rules to be eligible for prizes and awards.
In addition to the Holiday Flotilla, there are plenty of opportunities for fun throughout the weekend. The Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony and visit with Santa will be held on Friday, November 23rd at 5:30 p.m. at Wrightsville Beach Town Hall. Another highlight is the Festival in the Park on Saturday, November 24th, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Wrightsville Beach Park. This family-friendly event showcases antique, classic, and special interest cars. In addition, the festival will include arts and crafts booths, and a large play area for children with several inflatables, Arab Choo Choo, festival food, and more.
