The Key Lime Festival

For a citrus celebration unlike any other, head down to the Florida Keys for the annual Key Lime Festival on June 30th – July 4th, 2018. This 4-day festival will celebrate the birthplace of Key Lime Pie, with culinary events for every taste, and activities to delight every visitor. Most events are expected to sell out, so don't wait to book your reservations.

The Key Lime Kick-Off Party is scheduled for Saturday, June 30th from 11 am to 4 pm at the Key West Lighthouse. Hosted by the Key West Art and Historical Society, the Kick-Off will include a Key Lime Pie Drop from the top of the lighthouse to the ground, without damaging the pie. You can participate by dropping your own pie or enjoy watching from the ground. With plenty of food and fun planned for the day, it's an event you won't want to miss.

After spending a few hours at the Kick-Off Party, make your way over to Charlie Mac's at 404 Southard Street for Key Lime Cocktail Sip and Stroll. From 4 pm to 6 pm, you can drink and judge the best key lime cocktails on the island as several bars compete for the title of finest margaritas and martinis in Florida. For $30, you can sample 12 cocktails and travel between seven bars, at your own pace.

Enjoy a relaxing brunch on Sunday, July 1st between 10 am and 2 pm, at the Southernmost Beach Cafe, where they will feature a special Key Lime French Toast in honor of the festival. At 2 pm, the Key Lime Pie Hop will give you an opportunity to sample the island's best key lime pie, while leisurely strolling through the town of its birthplace. This culinary event is $30 and includes five pie samples and a festival t-shirt.

On Monday, July 2nd at 12pm, you are invited to take part in the Key Lime Rum Sampling and Distillery Tour. Sample rum made with real Key Limes grown in the Florida Keys and tour Key West's first legal rum distillery. Later, head over to Conch Republic Seafood Company for the Key Lime Scavenger Hunt. Beginning at 3:30 pm, registered teams will uncover clues leading to famous Key West sites, iconic landmarks, hidden local favorites, and a few bars along the way. The team with the most points will earn bragging rights!

For an intimate culinary experience limited to only 12 guests, register for Key Lime Cooking with Cook Key West and Chef Paul Menta. Sharing tales from Key West past and present, Chef Menta will use Key Lime, fresh local seafood, and farm-fresh produce to prepare an appetizer, entree, and dessert for your enjoyment. The event will take place on Tuesday, July 3rd at 6pm. The cost is $90 per person and reservations are required.

To celebrate Independence Day, consider taking part in the Mile High Key Lime Pie Eatin' Contest. This world-famous event will take place from 10 am to noon at Sunset Pier Ocean Key Resort and Spa. If you don't think you have it in you to devour a 9" Key Lime Pie faster than the competition, take a front row seat to cheer on the contestants. It's free to watch and $20 to participate. Finish the festival with a bang by supporting the Key West VNA Hospice 4th of July Picnic and Fireworks on Saturday evening.
