In the first part of our “Avoiding the Dealership” series, we talked about the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, and how it protects car owners and dealerships alike. In a nutshell, it is against the law for a dealership to void your warranty if you take your vehicle to an outside service center, as long as that service doesn’t result in damage to your car.
Even if you take your vehicle to an outside service center for repairs and maintenance, it’s extremely important to have that maintenance performed on a regular basis, especially if required by the warranty. We always recommend taking your vehicle to a trusted auto service center, like AAA Car Care, especially if your car is still under warranty.
The great thing about AAA is that we’ll perform a comprehensive maintenance inspection on your vehicle, at no charge, any time you bring it in for service. Each AAA location has a certified Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Master technician overseeing your repair and inspection who understands what services are needed to maintain your auto warranties. In the auto repair industry, ASE is the nation’s most recognized credential for quality in vehicle repair and service.
Even if you take your car to AAA Car Care near the end of your warranty, we back all our services with an industry-leading two-year/24,000 mile warranty for all AAA members. If the service fails within that period, just bring your vehicle back for repair at no additional charge. And to top it off, we even offer extended warranties that are specially tailored to your driving habits and budget, so you can protect your car even after the dealership warranty is up.
Remember—your car is an investment, and warranties help protect your investment and can get you the most for your money. Click here to find your local AAA Car Care Center.
