The term tune-up is used by many people to describe a service that's supposed to make an engine run better, but there's not a universal definition of what a tune-up includes at every garage. At AAA Car Care, a tune up consists of replacing spark plugs and occasionally replacing the air filter. During the inspection, technicians may also test the ignition, fuel, and emission systems. It's important to have your vehicle serviced regularly so check your owner's manual for specifications on all systems.

Replacing the spark plugs is a crucial part of car maintenance. Your vehicle's spark plugs produce the electric spark that burns the fuel/air mixture inside your engine's combustion chambers, thereby powering your engine. If your car has faulty spark plugs it may be hard to start, may hesitate when attempting to accelerate, or you may experience decreases in fuel economy. If you notice your vehicle is not idling smoothly, you may need to have your spark plugs replaced. Don't try to self-diagnose the problem. Instead, bring your car into AAA Car Care Center to get inspected by one of our expert technicians.

During your tune-up, the air filter may need to be replaced. The air filter keeps dirt, pollen, and other small particles from getting into your engine and helps your car run smoothly. If an air filter hasn't been changed for a long time, it can affect the performance of your engine. Since it isn't always easy to tell if your air filter needs changing, bring your car to AAA Car Care Center for a tune-up once a year.

Each of our stores has a master technician who supervises and assists with a full range of repairs so you can rest comfortably knowing you are in good hands. At AAA Car Care Center, you can drop your car off or stay while it's being serviced. If you decide to wait, why not take the time to review your insurance policies with your AAA Insurance Agent on site, or start planning your next vacation with our expert travel specialists?
