Thirty years ago, a military stint in Germany sparked Lynn Seldon’s work as a travel journalist. A few years later, his wife, Cele, traded in her marketing career to do the same.
“Together we have the incredible opportunity to see the world and share it with readers across the country,” explains Lynn.
From writing travel articles featured in newspapers, magazines and websites to publishing their book 100 Things to Do in Charleston Before You Die, the Seldons are passionate about opening the world to others. Although their travels keep the couple on the move, the Carolinas will always be home.
“We heard the calling of the water in the early 2000s and moved to Oak Island, North Carolina, and immediately fell in love with the weather, the ocean, the salt air and the Carolinas lifestyle,” shares Cele. “We recently moved to Beaufort, South Carolina, which we first learned about from Lynn’s mentor, the late, great Pat Conroy. We just can’t get enough of the Spanish moss draping from the trees, the smell of plough mud in the mesmerizing Lowcountry waterways, the easy access to the Upcountry and the charms of Charleston and Savannah.”
AAA has been an integral part of their lives since they became members in the early ‘80s.
“The security of knowing help is right around the corner during our travels (from a flat tire to running out of gas, we’ve been there), the savings at hotels (as travel journalists, we spend a lot of nights in hotels), and extra benefits like discounts on dining and entertainment make it a no-brainer,” says Lynn. “It’s the best investment we make every year.”
