Tucked away in the breathtaking Foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, The Red Horse Inn might just be one of the best kept secrets in the Carolinas when it comes to romantic bed and breakfasts. The AAA Four Diamond property, with its six rooms and six cottages, sits on 192 acres of green pastures and is located about 30 miles from downtown Greenville, S.C., in the quaint town of Landrum.

What makes The Red Horse Inn unique from most bed and breakfasts is that guests can experience all of the personalized hospitality and charm of a traditional B&B while still enjoying plenty of privacy during their stay.

“We want our guests to know that we are here for them 24/7, or if they do not want to see us, we can just be invisible,” said Mary Wolters, who owns and runs the inn along with her husband Roger. “This place is for them, for their time together.”

Instead of dining in a communal area in the main house, the inn provides guests with breakfast in their own rooms. Furnished with a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker, each room is supplied daily with a variety of muffins, oatmeal, grits, fruit parfaits, juices, and egg dishes.

Guests never have to leave their rooms, but if they choose to, they have miles of trails to explore right outside their door. While visitors walk the sprawling property, they’ll most likely encounter Mary’s gorgeous horse, Secret, who roams the pastures behind the bright white fences. She’s named Secret after her great grandfather, Secretariat—the legendary one and only Big Red!

From waterfalls and wineries to adventure and romance, The Red Horse Inn is an ideal getaway.

Call your local AAA Travel Specialist at 1-800-398-0379 for reservations at The Red Horse Inn.
