The U.S. National Whitewater Center in Charlotte is an incredible place to visit. Whether you live in Charlotte or not, this attraction should be on your to-do list. With some of the best land and water activities around, it's a paradise for the active family.

When planning your trip, stay at the Fairfield Inn by Marriott and use your AAA member discount or ask if you can combine it with the center's hotel partner additional savings.

The U.S. National Whitewater Center offers many fun activities for families. Try adventure rafting, family rafting, whitewater kayaking, whitewater SUP and rodeo rafting on the river or take it a little slower with flatwater kayaking, tandem kayaking or stand-up paddle boarding.

If water activities aren't your thing, the center offers much to do on land. Try the rope activities, climbing, ziplines and trails on your visit.

During your visit to The U.S. National Whitewater Center, there will be plenty to eat and drink. The River's Edge Bar and Grill has a big selection of food, beer and wine plus excellent views of the manmade river. Share the Parmesan Truffle appetizer or settle in for a meal of Chicken & Waffles or Shrimp & Grits. While visiting the Competition Channel, enjoy a beer from the Pump House Biergarten. With more than 60 craft beers on the menu and made-to-order grill items, you can spend the day there. Stop by the Market or the Trail Center for quick, grab-and-go items.

In addition to the ongoing activities, the center also hosts many festivals, including the annual Fourth of July Celebration, This two-day festival, July 3-4, features live music, a cornhole tournament and spectacular fireworks. It's free to attend but there is a fee to park.

Before you plan your trip, make sure you have the right gear. For the active family, there are some great vehicles for hauling your equipment. If you are traveling to the center from outside Charlotte, help the trip go smoothly with the AAA TripTiks and mobile app. But if planning is not your thing, contact your AAA travel planner.

No matter who plans your trip, its important that your insurance is up to date before your adventurous outing. Contact your trusted AAA Insurance Agent to make sure you are covered. AAA makes it easy to go on an adventure at The U.S. National Whitewater Center.
