Your Weekend Guide to Charleston, S.C.

Finding the right home for you and your family is an important decision. There are numerous websites, like Zillow.com and Trulia.com, that can help you narrow down your search. You can easily filter out the location you would like to live, how many bedrooms and bathrooms the homes include, and most importantly, the price. Working with your bank can open up the doors to the range of homes you should stay in during the search. For some first-time buyers, banks like State Employees Credit Union will have special mortgage packages to help you in the buying process. You can always contract a Realtor to do the research for you, too.

Zillow.com has more than 100,000 homes in North Carolina listed at just about any given time. This website allows you to view listing photos, sales history, and filter your home needs.

Trulia.com is a fantastic website for searching for your home. The main page allows you to search by each city’s available real estate. It also has the filters for the usual suspects: number of rooms and bathrooms, and so on.

These websites take most of the guesswork out of searching for your home.

More than likely, you will also need a Realtor. A knowledgeable Realtor can guide you to the homes that make the best fit. They can help ease the loan process, schedule home viewings, submit your bids and facilitate the closing. The process is much simpler with a Realtor guiding you.

Homeowner’s insurance is a necessity, whether you have a mortgage or not. More likely than not, your home is your most valuable asset and should be protected. Like other kinds of insurance, there are levels of coverage from the most basic coverage to policies that cover the nonessentials. To keep your home essentials like HVAC and appliances protected, ask your AAA Insurance Agent about a home warranty through American Home Shield. This warranty protects more than what homeowner’s insurance provides by going the extra step of protecting the items that make your house a home. AAA Insurance can also provide you with a supplemental homeowner’s insurance product, First Protector, which covers hardships of many kinds to keep your family safe. It’s just one more reason to make AAA Insurance your insurance provider.
