No one wants to deal with the stress of a speeding ticket and what comes with it, like points on your license and increased auto insurance premiums. AAA Carolinas may be able to help you get a ticket reduced or dismissed through the AAA Driver Improvement Program™, an informative and engaging course taught by our AAA certified instructors. Successful course completion earns you a safe driving certificate that may entitle you to insurance discounts and points reduction.

Becoming a safer driver can save your life and the lives of others. In 2018, over 1,400 people lost their lives in North Carolina crashes, the causes ranging from lane departure to unbelted occupants. For South Carolina, although the number of deaths was slightly lower at just under 1000, alcohol and distraction played a major role in fatalities.

One of the ways that AAA Carolinas is committed to seeing those numbers reduced to zero is through education. The AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety provides the groundbreaking research we use in the classroom to teach good driving habits. The more you and those around you learn about safe driving, the less likely you will be involved in a crash that could have devastating consequences.

Being in a classroom setting for up to eight hours can be tedious for anyone, so our instructors use their experience and knowledge to educate in a hands-on way. Russell Ashley has been a certified AAA instructor for 15 years, and says there is no better feeling than seeing the “ah- ha” look on a driver’s face when he teaches them a safer driving technique and how it can improve their experience behind the wheel.

“That’s when you know you’ve made an impact on their driving skills,” said Ashley. “It’s a great feeling to know when they walk out of the class they are a better defensive driver and they will share that with friends and family.”

It is important that our instructors have a passion for what they do, and it comes across in the positive reviews we receive from attendees such as AAA member Tanner, who said the stronger features of the class were “the instructor’s vast knowledge on the material” and that “overall the class was informative and well planned.”

Our mission to reduce vehicle fatalities through AAA Carolinas Traffic Safety classes is the driving force behind the AAA Driver Improvement Program. Don’t wait until you have a ticket to learn how to be a safe driver – we’re here to help!
