As we age there are many things that change including our desire for certain foods. I have a perpetual passion for all things made with pork belly and just about any kind of artisan cheese plate.

The Brown Hotel, Lobby Bar in Louisville, Kentucky, has the perfect dish of pork belly and an artisan cheese plate on its menu. The thought of a pork belly slider with sweet mustard gastrique and red onion jam causes my mouth to water. Lest I forget to mention the bourbon flights and lobster macaroni and cheese. Yum! With the addition of the magnificent splendor of the lobby itself, it's a foodie destination must.

Proof on Main offers a gargantuan selection of bourbon and a brunch menu, including Shrimp and Grits with Blue Gouda and Grilled Cheese with Bacon Marmalade. There are so many delectable options for dinner, it's hard to imagine picking just one decision. African Chickpea Stew, Red Coconut Curry and Duck Bolognese all scream "Order Me!" The restaurant adjoins the 21C Museum Hotel and the gallery flows into the restaurant. It fills the plate of the foodie and art lover in one incredible setting.

For the pasta loving foodie, Volare provides house-made pasta. The Pappardelle Boscaiola is an Italian delight made with fresh pappardelle pasta tossed with bacon, mushrooms and a demi-glace cream sauce. You can't go wrong with the Saltimbocca made with chicken or veal, sauteed with prosciutto, sage and mozzarella in a white wine butter sauce, either.

Lastly on my list for foodie destinations in Louisville is Basa Modern Vietnamese. With Crispy Imperial Rolls and a Green Papaya salad on the menu, you really can't go wrong. Or maybe share a plate of the Frites with Asiago cheese?
