Milan is the perfect destination for those looking for a metropolitan vacation with not only high-end dining and shopping options, but also rich Italian history.

A fashion capital of the world, one of the must see places in Milan is the Golden Rectangle, the upscale shopping district. Even if you’re on a budget, it’s worth it for the window shopping and people watching. Head to the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele for perhaps the most magnificent shopping mall experiences you’ve ever had. You’ll find Prada, Versace, Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Armani among the mosaics and marble. Another great shopping and fashion location is 10 Corso Cormo with its bookshop, café, gallery and restaurant.

Even if you’re in Milan for the fashion, we highly recommend trying to get tickets to see Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper at the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie. If you can’t get tickets, there are many other artistic options. The Pinacoteca di Brera includes significant pieces by artists such as Mantegna and Caravaggio. To see modern pieces, head to the Museo del Novecento and Gallerie d’Italia. If you’re interested in architecture, visit Michelangelo’s Castello Sforzesco and the Duomo.

You’ll find numerous dining options in Milan, but one of our favorites is dinner on the ATMosfera vintage tram. For a casual dining experience, try Taglio where you can eat and also purchase genuine Italian products. Mangiari di Strada on Via Lorenteggio is a great spot for Italian street food. Have an authentic and historic Milanese experience at Trattoria Arlati.
