A Weekend in the Heart of North Carolina

Guests at Universal Orlando Resort are not just entertained – they’re part of the entertainment. The destination’s three theme parks, Universal Studios Florida, Universal’s Islands of Adventure and Universal’s Volcano Bay, are home to some of the world’s most exciting and innovative theme park experiences, not the least of which is The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

This year there are two major additions to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, one ride and one interactive projection mapping experience.

Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure

The first epic addiction at Universal Orlando is Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure. The ride opened June 13th and is the most highly-themed, fully-immersive coaster experience yet. With Hagrid as their guide, guests will fly deep into the Forbidden Forest and brave the mysteries and thrills beyond the grounds of Hogwarts castle on a groundbreaking coaster experience unlike any other.

Guests will join Hagrid’s Care of Magical Creatures class and board magical motorbikes for their journey – riding either the motorcycle or boarding the adjacent side car for their journey to the Forbidden Forest. They’ll reach speeds up to 50 mph and even journey forward and backward through the dark forest all while encountering some of the wizarding world’s rarest magical creatures, including a Centaur, Fluffy, the three-headed dog, Cornish Pixies and more.

Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle

Later this year, through the magic of music, lighting and spectacular effects, an all-new projection mapping experience will be unveiled at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter on Hogwarts Castle. The “Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle” will unleash the darkest creatures and villains within the Wizarding World, including the powerful Dark wizard himself, Lord Voldemort. Guests will be asked to summon their inner strength and bravery in the face of the all-consuming Dark Arts as some of the awe-inspiring moments and creatures inspired by the films come to life within the majestic light display.

Experience a New Café Today

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter isn’t the only attraction getting an upgrade this year. The TODAY Café, now open, is Universal Studios Florida’s newest addition – bringing together a highly-themed environment designed to feel like stepping onto the iconic TODAY show set along with specialty food and beverage options.

One of the standout features of the TODAY Cafe menu is seasonal dishes inspired by co-anchor Al Roker’s favorite recipes. Every day menu items include fresh, in-house baked pastries, specialty breakfast options, New York-inspired sandwiches and salads and locally-roasted coffees including a unique blend made exclusively for the TODAY Cafe. Additionally, in tribute to a long running tradition in Kathie Lee and Hoda’s hour of TODAY, guests can enjoy wine and beer on tap with a delicious cheese platter for two.

Nostalgia for Open Flame Feasts

Universal Orlando will debut also debut its next original concept dining experience – Bigfire – a full-service restaurant that draws modern inspiration from the nostalgia of cooking over open flames during memorable family vacations, from camping to backyard barbecues to lakeside retreats. The all-new restaurant will feature a specially created menu that takes open fire cooking, one of the earliest styles of preparing food, to a whole new level – and brings to life a unique dining experience that only Universal Orlando could create.

New Hotel Complex Welcomes Guests This Summer

Two all-new value hotel options for families looking for theme park thrills, exclusive benefits and a seamless Universal Orlando experience will be opening over the next eight months. Even better? Rates starting at less than $100 per night!

Universal’s Endless Summer Resort is a new hotel complex where guests can enjoy a relaxed and easy vibe with fun surf and beachy details woven throughout their experience. It features two hotels: Surfside Inn and Suites, and Dockside Inn and Suites. Surfside Inn and Suites will open June 27 while its sister property, Dockside Inn and Suites, is accepting reservations and set to open in March 2020.
