For two Seabrook, South Carolina, AAA Members, an afternoon in Bora Bora just wasn’t enough.
AAA Travel Specialist: Kelly Brock, Charlotte, N.C.
AAA Members: Seabrook, South Carolina, Members since 1997
Destination: World cruise, sailing round-trip from Miami
Goal: Extend a world-cruise excursion to include an overnight in Bora Bora
Must Haves: An overwater bungalow with a balcony
Travel Type: Cruise and Travel Package
While helping two long-time Members book a six-month world cruise, I discovered their dream of spending the night in an overwater Bora Bora bungalow. The cruise was already scheduled to port in Bora Bora but it was just for the afternoon, so I was challenged to extend their excursion overnight and help them rejoin the cruise the next evening when it docked in Tahiti.
THE HEAVY LIFTING
The Members and I worked together to plan the trip. I first got approval from the cruise line’s port authority for the Members to disembark in Bora Bora and spend the night away from the cruise ship. We researched the positioning and arrangements of different overwater bungalows; some are over coral, which brings even more sea life when you look through the glass floor.
I then worked with AAA’s partner, Pleasant Holidays, to book the deluxe overwater bungalow; to set up a private transfer from the Bora Bora pier to the Hilton; to book a flight from Bora Bora to Tahiti; and a transfer from the Tahiti airport to the cruise ship.
An American-style breakfast is included when you spend the night in one of Hilton’s overwater bungalows. To help these Members make the most of every minute, I arranged for late checkout and for breakfast to be delivered directly to their terrace via a flower-adorned canoe. Staying in Bora Bora was a dream of theirs, and we are making it happen in grand style.
