Cold weather months can take a toll on your battery. Your car battery has a life span of 3-5 years. Spring is a great time to make sure it’s ready for hotter temperatures. You can avoid many battery issues with a little preventative maintenance. Here are some things to look for:

Examine the outside for cracks in your battery casing and fluid leaks. If you have any, you should replace your battery right away.

Check your cables, posts and terminals for corrosion. Battery corrosion is caused by a faulty connection that lets battery acid escape and corrode surrounding areas. It can also prevent your car from starting.

Make sure your battery is secure within its tray. Engine vibration can cause physical damage to a loose battery. It can also risk shorting out the positive battery post and cable against any nearby metal surface, which could cause significant electrical system damage.
